Hooktail may look like a boy, but in reality, she's... a girl. She's been munching on living things since she was born. She once ate some crickets, and ended up getting very bad food poisoning. She can't even stand the sound of one! No one knows why she hid the Attack FX R Badge in her castle, if it sounds like a cricket. She had eaten Koops's dad 10 years ago, but after Mario defeated her, she hacked him out, and boy was he okay! Hooktail wasn't, though...

Some people may think Hooktail is a boy... but she is a girl. When she was growing up she was friends with Gloomtail and Bonetail. Later she started going around the village of Petalburg looking for Koopas to eat and munch. She was in her castle until Koops’s father came in. Hooktail was losing, but she tricked him at the very last minute. Koops wanted to see his father again so he teamed up with Mario to go to Hooktails castle to get the Crystal Star and his father. Hooktail did not know it, but she’d eaten the Star by mistake. She locked up a cricket badge so she could not hear it, because she ate a cricket once and got really sick. Hooktail tried to trick Mario, but it did not work. She lost in the end and she left her castle for other things in life. Where she is... no one knows...
