The Mario Republic

By Lemmy Koopa

Ludwig woke up, yawned, and jumped out of bed. He was excited because in school that day he was scheduled to have a double science session. "I can't wait to prove my theory of relativity!" he exclaimed.

"Sorry Ludwig," said Larry, who was conveniently passing by his brother's door. "That theory has already been made."

"But Einstein wasn't entirely correct!" Ludwig explained. "My theory is perfect!"

Ludwig and Larry made their way to school (they always get up too late to have breakfast). On the way, Ludwig discussed his theory until (actually, even after) Larry plugged up his ears.

When they got to school and joined the other Koopalings (except for Roy, who was "sick"), they found that none of the teachers were there. "I didn't know there was a teachers' convention today," Iggy mused.

"Who cares?" asked Lemmy. "Let's party!"

"I'm afraid we can't do that," said Bowser, who suddenly appeared through one of those plot devices.

"Aw man!" Larry pouted. "I wanted to go out and get some drugs!"

"Remember, drugs are for dopes!" Mario sternly warned. Then he continued what he had been doing. Yup.

"Why not?" asked Morton. "How come? What gives? Spill the beans? Tell us the tale! Explain all! Give us a-"

"Stop!" Bowser screamed. "See, I sort of ran out of money, and in order to get some extra money I had to promise everyone that you, Morton, wouldn't talk anymore."

"That's fine and dandy," Wendy cut it, "but how does this effect us?"

"I thought you'd never ask!" Bowser replied. "In order to keep my crown and all my other cool and uesless stuff, I had to make some concessions. I had to fire all the teachers, and I haven't been able to pay the Koopa Klan."

"Is that why I've seen signs reading 'U Pay or D Day!'?" asked Ludwig.

"Yeah, maybe," Bowser shrugged. "Anyway, you have to go to public school."

"Aww…" sighed all the Koopalings except Morton.

"Oh yeah, and I also had to sell all your stuff and rent out your rooms. And you'll be slaves in the Underground Land mines before and after school."

"Aw poot," Larry pouted.

So the Koopalings went off to public school, but things didn't go so well. Iggy had trouble first, after some students stole and then broke his glasses. Roy saw this happen and beat up the perpatrators, but he accidentally killed one and was instantly sentenced to death by the principal. His sentence was upheld by Bowser, in exchange for more money. Iggy was later killed by the brother of the student Roy killed, but the murderer was never caught.

Ludwig was quickly tossed out of school for sleeping in class (the material was way below him), so he had to work 24 7 in the mines until he died three days later.

Wendy was expelled for refusing to go to class, since her make-up kit had been sold. She was sent to a freak show, and she immediately committed suicide.

Larry lasted in school for a week, but then his sneaky instincts got the better (or worse) of him and he peeked in the girls' room. He was given a swirlie and drowned in the process.

Lemmy was also doing fine for a while; he saved himself by entertaining his peers. Finally, his jokes got old and he couldn't afford new props, so he was voted out of school. Soon after he was devoured by vultures.

Morton lastest the longest. In fact, he somehow managed to survive a whole marking period. Then he flunked out for not participating in class. His last thoughts: 'I knew there was a reason why we went to private school!' He had some other thoughts too, but they were irrelivant because he was burned at the stake when he tried to explain to the principal why he couldn't speak. Don't forget, since Morton likes heat, that flame he burned in must've been REALLY hot.

While his Koopalings were dropping like Goombas, so was Bowser's cash reserve. In the end, he was forced to sell his castle and his crown so that he would at least be able to live a lavish life. The remains of the Koopa Kingdom, including power over it, were auctioned off of Ebay, where Luigi was able to buy them for 47 coins. The bidding never went higher because all of Bowser's stuff was junk anyway, and even Luigi was ripped off.

"And that's how the Mario Republic was formed!" Mario closed the story book he was reading to a group of children at the local library, whick Toad had helped him find.

"How did it become your republic if your brother bought it?" one astute child asked.

"When he realized that he had been cheated, he screamed something about demons, gave me the deed to the kingdom, and ran off someplace. He's been missing for years."

"Did that story really happen?" another child asked.

"Probably not," Mario answered. "But it's the best I can do while only being able to guess from the pictures."
