Koopa School

By martinbros

It was the first day of school. The Koopalings and Susan were attending Dark Land Elementary School. All of them were nervous. None of them had ever gone to school, with the exception of Ludwig, who attended a private inventing school once. When they found the common room, they were surprised that they would be sorted by families instead of age. That meant all of them were in the same class.

Later that day…

By the end of the school day, the school was in ruins! The newspapers reported that one of the Koopalings had decided that they didn't like school and wrecked the place. Mario was called to the case the following day.

When Mario was sent to investigate, he immediately started questioning people. First he tried a teacher, who said she had heard the principal yelling from the hallway "YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE IN CLASS, NOT STEALING CHOCOLATE BARS!" She saw that that kid was in detention the whole day.

Then he tried a student, who said some kid had been giving an oral report the whole day.

Next he tried a recess aid, but she was busy trying to pull a dirty kid out of the garden who she said had been there during the explosion. She also said someone had been in the bathroom all day. She couldn't remember if it was the boys’ or girls’, but she heard some muttering about a new bow.

Mario could not find out who had done it, so he headed down to the basement for some quiet. He turned a corner and tripped over Susan's limp body. He woke her up and asked her what she remembered. She said one of her cousins had overpowered her with a shooting weapon yesterday.

Mario was starting to get an idea of who it could be when recess started. He passed a Koopaling who happened to be pick-pocketing at the time. The Koopaling said that the kid who had been buried looked very out of his element walking back into the school.

Mario headed over to the mound of dirt the kid had created and found a buried ball. At that moment Mario knew who had caused the explosion.

Who caused the explosion?

And the answer is...
