KA-BOOM! A bolt of lightning flashed down from the sky above Dark Land. Lemmy was sitting in the kitchen of Castle Koopa. The storm had been raging all week. Power had been going on and off for about as long.  All the Koopalings had been cooped up in the castle since it had started.

Lemmy was eager to get back to his Ice Land castle, as all the Koopalings were eager to return to theirs. “Hi Ludwig,” Lemmy greeted him, not as cheerfully as usual, “Would you like to sit down?”

“Sure,” Ludwig said tiredly, taking a seat. “I am so bored, I wish there was something to occupy us.”

Suddenly, the power went out.  There was a loud CRACK! and a thump as something heavy hit the floor. It came from the room next to them. Lemmy grabbed his ball and rolled to the door. He opened it. “Well, Ludwig, you got your wish,” Lemmy said as he stepped aside to reveal Bowser lying dead on the floor.

Ludwig ran over to inspect the body. After examining the body for a few minutes, he looked up and said, “As you probably know, Lemmy, this is murder.”

“How did he die?”

“He was hit over the head with a blunt instrument.”

“You mean, like a bat?”

“Yes.”

“Who could have done it?”

“Anyone, except us.”

“Let’s investigate, then.”

They first went to Larry’s room. Larry was inside, studying a book of rare plants. After asking him about the murder, he said, “Can’t be! I was in here the whole time, reading.”

They then went to Wendy’s room. When asked about it, she replied, “There’s no way, I was in here, cooking this leg of lamb.” She showed it to them.

They then found Iggy and Roy. They were on the way to the gym. When told, they said that they were in their rooms the whole time, and were just going to the gym to work out before the power went out again.

They then went to the auditorium and found Morton. When asked about the murder, he gave a 20-minute speech saying that he was practicing his new speech.

They went back to the kitchen. As they ate dinner, Lemmy brightened up. “I know who it is!”
