It was the only thing going through Morton’s head when he wrote that speech in Dark Land Castle. He was disturbed… thoroughly annoyed…
Morton: ARGH!
With that, he ripped apart his speech and grabbed a new piece of paper. This time he wrote a different speech for his soldiers in Desert Land to hear the next day. When the time came, he spoke it loudly.
Morton: Faithful soldiers of Desert Land, I address to you a dire, important task. No, I bestow it upon you, I…
Let’s just cut to the chase and skip to the important part.
Morton: A constant ticking disturbed me last night as I wrote my speech. I order all of you to come with me to Dark Land, where we shall inspect.
And so they did. They also paid Morton’s siblings to come as well, to be interrogated. They all complied no problem, except for Roy, who needed extra money to be convinced.
Morton: All right siblings, before asking you what you did last night, I’m going to show our names in order of our rooms in the hallway. I feel it may help us find the culprit.
Wendy - Larry - Roy - Morton - Ludwig - Guest Room - Lemmy - Iggy
Morton: All right, what were all of you, my dear siblings, doing last night?
Larry: I was eavesdropping on one of the people whose room is next to mine, and I heard a lot of noise that might be the ticking you heard. I can’t tell you who, though. As you can see, both the people around my room could make me miserable if they found out.
Iggy: Roy was smashing my head repeatedly into the wall last night. It was awful! He eventually crashed me into all kinds of things in the room, like my underappreciated inventions!
Roy: And it was fun. I set myself a goal to bash him into the wall once every second, and I kept a constant speed, bub!
Wendy: Lemmy came to my room to teach me how to ride a ball. I fell off a lot of times, but I’m sure your “ticking” was constant, while I could fall off after a minute, or maybe after four seconds. It was all random.
Lemmy: I was teaching Wendy how to ride a ball. What she says is true.
Ludwig: Oh, all I did vas vork on ze tempo of my new masterpiece on an electric piano. I put on the muting headphones so I could hear it but it vould not spoil ze surprise!
Morton: Really? Well, this mystery is pathetically simple, nay, not worthy of being called a mystery! The answer is clearly….
