DAD was the first Koopa to ever be born and the first villain of the Mushroom Kingdom. He was very powerful in his time and once nearly destroyed the kingdom all by himself until he was taken down by Mario's great-great-great grandfather. After that DAD recruited many creatures such as Goombas and other non-Koopa enemies to help, and created more Koopas in an unknown way to aid in his destruction. DAD finally took control of the kingdom for several decades, but then came the birth of Morton Koopa Sr.

Morton wasn't as strong as Danny, but he created hundreds of weapons and doom-vehicles and ended up successfully usurping DAD for a few years. DAD was angry that one of his own sons defeated him. Desperate to become king again, he asked the man who defeated him before to help him defeat Morton. Mario's ancestor agreed to help. After four years of war with Morton and his deadly weapons, DAD and Mario's ancestor defeated the evil Koopa and sent him to Dark Land to live in as a punishment.

Sadly, only a few days after the great war, Danny Allen Devon passed away. Mario's ancestor set up a huge funeral for the legendary Koopa and everyone went to it, including the citizens who nearly lost their lives because of DAD's attacks. DAD remained dead for years until Morton's son Bowser's sons and daughter, Larry, Morton, Wendy, Roy, Iggy, Lemmy, and Ludwig, secretly revived him, but nobody else including Bowser knows this. DAD's whereabouts now are unknown, but most say wherever he is, he's happy.

Danny Allen Devon Koopa surprisingly looks a lot like the Koopalings. He has the same glasses and palm tree-shaped hair like Iggy, only the hair is rainbow-colored like Iggy's old look. He has one fang sticking out of his mouth like Ludwig, he has a pink head like Roy, his skin was brown like Morton, he has the same Indian-like scars on one side of his head as Lemmy, Larry's sky blue star birthmark on the other side, and Bowser Jr's horns. The three parts of DAD’s name were in honor of three different people, Danny being named after Danny Antonucci, Allen being named after Allen "Brain" Powers, and Devon being named after his mystery father.
