Dark Boo had a different name in real life, though he denies it entirely as of late. Nowadays he simply goes by DB. He is but one of many of his kind. DB doesn't remember what he was before he died, but he likes to think he was a member of the Royal Family (Koopa Klan). He is not. As soon as his death occurred he was called out by the royal King Boo. At the time he was an average Boo. Not knowing why, he simply joined the Boo Clan.

Being one of the more mischievous Boos, DB made friends quickly. At the time, the Boo Clan resided in an old abandoned castle. Eventually he joined an exclusive group of Boos, all troublemakers. Yes, I know, all Boos are troublemakers, but these Boos were different. They were skilled at tricking and pulling pranks on their own kind, and King Boo thought they could be put to use. He was wrong.

One night, in a part of the castle reserved for these creeps, the Boos were trying to think up a new prank. They had mistreated every other ghost in the clan... except for one... DB knew it was a bad idea to prank the king, but if he backed down, the others would think of him as a coward and maybe even boot him out of the group. So, he went along reluctantly. At the time the king was sleeping in his private room. The troublemakers entered the highly-restricted lounge. For their prank, they needed to get some dirt on their boss.

The group searched high and low for something- anything they could use. Just as the group was about to give up, DB called the group over to a well-hidden dresser. Wondering why a ghost would need clothes, they opened the drawer slowly. And there it was. The Mario Doll! It was perfect. The leader of the pack complimented DB on his good work. DB sighed in relief. As the Boos were about to exit the room, they heard a boom. They turned around, and to their horror, King Boo was floating there. King Boo had never been sleeping, but had only been invisible. After screaming at the group for a while, he pondered for a moment. He couldn't have such a disrespectful bunch in his clan. It just wouldn't work. He had to get rid of them. DB was scared to death (how ironic). He had already feared the king, in a respectful sort of way. He feared for his afterlife.

King Boo brought the group to Poshley Heights. DB and others wondered why he had taken them to a great place. It turns out it was punishment. King Boo explained that they were to stay in the Poshley Heights Sanctum's secret painting area until he had cooled off. The group of ghosts realized they couldn't disobey the head-honcho. So, they willingly entered the painting. Time passed.

Over time, the Boos wondered what an orange (garnet) star was doing on a pedestal, but they ignored it. DB had smuggled in a Gameboy. Oddly, the batteries lasted those hundred years. After about 50 years inside, they all noticed something. While the group was busy annoying each other, the leader had swiped DB's Gameboy as a prank. The bunch began taunting him. Filled with rage, DB had dashed forward, knocking the leader to the ground. Their boss moaned and groaned. It was obvious: they were now stronger! DB could NEVER have done that before! The Boos looked at each other and realized they had lost their chalky paleness, and were turning purple. Their tongues had been turning from red to blue. Their eyes had changed as well. Now they had glowing, creepy, yellow eyes. The pack noticed that the air looked leaky... as if paint was dripping from the ceiling. Then it hit one of them. It was the oils! The chemicals in the painting they were now in had leaked into their ectoplasmic skin. They decided to call themselves Dark Boos. They were about to leave... but yet... they still feared their king...

One day, unexpectedly, a chubby-looking man with a mustache, overalls, and a hat with an M on it (you'd better know who this is) came through the doors to the painting world. Not knowing he wanted nothing to do with them, the group attempted to attack Mario. They figured since they were stronger than before, they could take this newcomer. They were wrong. Mario POUNDED them. When DB realized he was the last one left, he fled to hide behind the pedestal. Fearing the worst, he waited for the inevitable. But nothing happened. DB looked around and noticed that Mario was gone, as was the orange star. DB pondered to himself, and realized it was time for him to leave. He left the others lying there.

After leaving Poshley Heights, DB wandered into an area (AKA Lemmy's Land) that looked busy. He ran into a rainbow-haired Koopa riding on a ball (Lemmy!), and decided to ask for a few answers. Lemmy explained everything: Mario, Bowser, Lemmy's Land, et cetera. When DB heard something about an Interview, he was intrigued. After Lemmy left, DB decided to lounge around the Interviews, sneaking in backstage and watching the Interviews. Then he felt ready to reintroduce himself to the new society.

As an Interview was about to start, DB cut the power. He snuck into the studio and introduced himself. A few audience members were peeved. Lemmy gave the ghoul a chance, however. When his first Interview began, he almost had a heart attack at the sight of his old master, though he tried to keep his cool. However, King Boo had forgotten the incident and the show wasn't bad for DB's first try, except for the part when he destroyed the studio. For a period of time, DB worked with other people on the Interviews, most notably Doopliss and his sister Bissy, before he decided to start anew.

Much has happened in this time. DB now has two truly permanent Interview partners, Zed and Thunk, and his personality has vastly changed. Though he was once relatively nice, DB has become rather mean and hostile, so it would seem. He also seems to have developed some sort of psychological problem. Or he could possibly just be an avid attention seeker. None truly know the answer. DB still hosts Interviews today, though he has become increasingly lazy over time. One thing that hasn't changed is the amount of respect he has for a certain other interviewer, even to the point where he'd squeal in joy to meet him. Though he'd never openly admit it.

Interestingly enough, no one knows how DB got a Gameboy before they were invented, or how the batteries managed to last so long. A paradox that will forever be unsolved. Or will it? Probably.

DB, Zed, and Thunk. Unorganized, unprofessional, violent, and dangerous people. Yet they come together to create an Interview show whenever they can. Though they don't get as many opportunities to work as DB would like, the show isn't going to end at any point in the near future. Even if that means nobody watches them anyway.
