History: Mr. I is not the only Mr. I on the face of Plit, Mr. I is a species. They are eyeballs that can mysteriously float about a foot and a half off the ground. A big version of a Mr. I was seen in Super Mario 64 and its DS remake. They were created by King Boo to guard the Power Stars and to “keep an eye on his mansion”. They have the power to shoot an ice beam that, strangely, does not freeze anybody, it only takes a little of their life away. Mr. I’s are now scattered amongst the Mushroom Kingdom.
Theories: Some debate on whether their attack is actually an ice beam or a light blue laser. It has an icy look to it, so some say that it is ice while others say it is a strange type of laser. In the original Super Mario 64, Mr. I shot strange white bubbles from its eye instead of the icy beam in the DS remake. Some think King Boo gave them a new attack since the old one was not working as well.
Another noticeable feature is that Eyerok, a boss in Mario Kart DS and Super Mario 64 DS, contains a Mr. I inside of each of its massive hands. Although the eye does not shoot any laser beams, it looks exactly the same. Many say that Mr. I and Eyerok are pretty much the same and that the eye actually has a brain and telepathically controls the hand.
