Backstory: He's the first Hot Foot ever created (in the Mario 3 game, he's in Castle Koopa, where only the strong survive), and has quite a personality... for a candle flame that walks and talks, anyway. He and Ignitia were married in 2000, and did not come back from their honeymoon for three weeks, only to take an extended vacation afterward. They had initially met at one of King Koopa's banquets, when his Plit-famous band started their set. She loved him for the fame, he loved her for the way she glows. While they were dating, Hot Foot often had to defend her from the advances of a Podoboo from Castle Koopa. That Podoboo is now married to another Podoboo, this one from Bowser's fortress in Dark Land, but he still tries to flirt with Ignitia if he can.
