Sayaman was just an ordinary Blue Ninjakoopa living in Water Land until the events of Super Mario 3. He first glimpsed the Koopas when he spied on Mario's battle with Wendy. He would have helped in that battle due to his hatred of plumbers, but his training was not complete yet so he simply watched. Just before the airship left Water Land after Wendy's defeat, he grabbed his things and stowed aboard. Upon arriving in Dark Land he spotted an empty dojo and made it his temporary home until he finished his
training.

Upon finishing his training years later, he traveled to Castle Koopa to meet his king. At first he was seen as an intruder and was captured. During questioning, standing alongside King Koopa were Ludwig, Lemmy, Roy, Iggy, Wendy, Morton, and Larry. Sayaman was questioned as to who he was, where he came from, and why he was at Castle Koopa. Afterwards he spent the night in the dungeon for having stowed away on the airship. The next day he was to show King Koopa his skills by attacking the Mario Bros. The battle ended in defeat but he at least left Luigi unconscious and Mario with a broken arm. He spent another night in the dungeon for losing, but in the morning he was rewarded for
defeating one Mario Bro. He was given a personal room in Castle Koopa and was personally introduced to each of the Koopalings.

Later that year on Wendy's 14th birthday, Sayaman realized his musical abilities as he performed several MJ hits including Thriller, Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Bad, and The Way You Make Me Feel. From then on he has been the Koopa family's musical entertainment as well as a sparring partner for the Koopalings.

Two years later, he has recently become an interviewer. Soon after his first Interview, while testing something for Iggy, he was mutated into a form resembling the Koopalings and has since then been treated with more respect because of it. He has also hired Bebop and Rocksteady as his assistants to prevent running gags from interrupting his Interviews. And that's pretty much his whole background history up to this point.
