Quote: “Master of Dimensions... Pleaser of crowds... I am... Dimentio!”
Dimentio can easily be summed up as “The New Kefka”; calling him this would be an accurate depiction, as Dimentio is just as – if not more – insane than Kefka. Cunning and capable of initiating his own agenda without the notice of Count Bleck or his other minions, he works from the shadows of Bleck’s army. Dimentio waits for Count Bleck to create the Chaos Heart and form The Void, a massive black hole that completely annihilates planes of existence and continues to grow and consume until it has wiped out all of reality. Although he appears to be a mere lackey, at the end of the game Dimentio reveals his true intentions: kill Count Bleck, steal the Chaos Heart, use its power to destroy all existence, and then recreate reality with himself as its all-powerful, undisputed ruler.
He plans to accomplish this by using the heroes of prophecy, Mario Mario, Princess Peach, King Bowser, and Luigi Mario, to collect the Pure Hearts and use them to destroy Bleck. Once Count Bleck finally creates the Chaos Heart, Dimentio waits patiently for the hero mentioned in the Light Prognosticus to appear. Although at first glance it seems that Count Bleck is the one pulling the strings, it is later revealed that the entire game’s events were orchestrated by Dimentio – indeed, as it is heavily implied that Dimentio is the one who wrote the Dark Prognosticus, thereby causing the downfall of many countries, civilizations, and even Blumiere’s descent into madness and transformation into Count Bleck.
Dimentio spends all of his time either testing Mario and his friends, obtaining what he needs for his plan to work or doing research, leaving no stone unturned. Dimentio is even the one responsible for reuniting Mario, Peach, Bowser, and Luigi, and effectively, their victory over Count Bleck.
At the end of the game, after they defeat Count Bleck, Dimentio finally sees an opportunity to kill him. He fires a blast of magical energy, but Nastasia gets in the way and takes the blow, perishing to protect the count. Tippi and the heroes are shocked to see Dimentio is still alive. Dimentio merely laughs, stating that it is his moment. With a snap of his fingers, a Floro Sprout appears upon Luigi’s head, taking control of him and the Chaos Heart as well.
“Now… Ladies and gentlemen… Get ready for the greatest magic show you’ll ever see!” Raising the Chaos Heart up high into the air above, Dimentio then fuses Luigi and the Chaos Heart together, creating a gigantic abomination with a poncho for a body, long arms and legs, hands and feet resembling Luigi’s gloves and shoes, and a black head resembling Luigi’s, devoid of any emotion. Count Bleck pleads for Dimentio to stop, but the psychotic magician replies by teleporting Tippi, Count Bleck, and Nastasia to Dimension D so that he can torture and kill them later. He then fuses with the monster, becoming Super Dimentio.
Super Dimentio decides that that the heroes have no further use to him, so he chooses to end their lives. He laughs at the heroes’ efforts in battle, as he is invincible. Taunting them, Super Dimentio begins to use his magic to destroy the heroes and all worlds in one fell swoop. Count Bleck loses all hope, as Dimentio is unstoppable without the Pure Hearts. However, Tippi and Bleck’s love for each other rejuvenates the Pure Hearts, which Tippi takes to Mario and his friends and uses to heal them. With the Pure Hearts’ power, Super Dimentio becomes vulnerable and engages in a final showdown with the other three heroes. Through the heros’ efforts, Super Dimentio’s body is destroyed, leaving only his head.
On the verge of death, Dimentio expresses disbelief at how he could have failed when he did everything perfectly. Nevertheless, Dimentio gives a psychotic smile, and reveals one last trick to ensure everything in existence dies with him – with his last breath, he leaves behind a portion of his power to continue controlling the Chaos Heart to wipe out all existence. With one last “Ciao”, Dimentio explodes and sinks into oblivion. Luigi is unharmed, but the Chaos Heart continues to destroy all worlds. Count Bleck reveals that the only way to stop it is with true love. He exchanges vows with Tippi, which activates the true potential of the Pure Hearts and nullifies the Chaos Heart, closing The Void, resurrecting Nastasia, and returning all worlds to normal.
It is assumed Dimentio was sent to The Underwhere.
