Fawful was born into a poor family. They were not able to take care of him, and didn’t really care about him. During this time, Beanbean scientists at Woohoo Hooniversity were searching for a subject for experiments. Upon hearing this, Fawful’s parents volunteered him for the job. So, the 1-year-old Fawful was taken away. After drawing names, the researchers decided on the name Fawful for the baby.

For 16 years, Fawful was subjected to harsh mental and physical tests, torturous experiments, and otherwise inhumane projects. Through this process, his voice was changed, his personality was altered, his mind was partially brainwashed, etc. However, at the age of 17, Fawful escaped from the Hooniversity and, over time, made it into the Mushroom Kingdom.

Fawful was greeted by E. Gadd, who was on a trip to set up his Starbeans Café. Upon seeing the poor condition of the boy, he took him back to the Mushroom Kingdom and slowly started to rehab Fawful, teaching him most of the things he had forgotten. He learned very fast, and was even able to master controlling many types of aircraft. However, he was not able to be completely restored, as his brain had been severely damaged, and he was still unable to speak completely normal.

One day, as E. Gadd was tinkering with his Poltergust, Fawful accidentally pressed a button, activating a warping. Fawful, curious, stepped inside and was transported back to the Beanbean Kingdom. Cackletta, who at that time was surveying the Kingdom for her plot, found Fawful. Seeing how good he was with machines, she fashioned a battle hovercraft for him. Fawful, still not completely normal, was easily tricked into turning to the evil side, and soon became Cackletta’s advisor and chief minion. After a short time of training, Fawful was armed and ready to help Cackletta execute her plan.

Once the Beanstar was in the possession of Cackletta, Fawful had an idea. Having bitter memories of the Hooniversity, yet knowing how much technology was at hand, Fawful suggested taking over the Hooniversity, as it would serve as revenge for Fawful and as a good base, what with all the inventions at their disposal. Since Fawful had been there for years, he knew his way around as well.

Fawful played an instrumental role in the plan of Cackletta, and once supplied with proper weaponry, was quite dangerous. However, in the end, Fawful was defeated by Mario and Luigi, and, unfortunately, killed in the process. Mario and Luigi were then able to finish off Cackletta and thwart her plan. Fawful served many purposes, many for good as well as evil. It is too bad that he could not have been saved and become a good citizen.
